Paris Olympics: What to look for, what to watch on August 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- The second weekend of the Paris Olympics is almost here and Friday will give us a glimpse of what will be among the greatest weekends in sports history.

Today begins a three-day stretch where NBC4 will have live coverage of swimming finals as well as track & field finals as the centerpiece sport of the games gets underway. Here is how to watch the seventh day of the Paris Olympics.

U.S. men's soccer looks for semifinal spot

At 9 a.m., the men's soccer quarterfinals get underway and first up is Team USA as they face Morocco at the Parc des Princes in Paris. The Americans bounced back after a 3-0 loss to France in its opening games to beat New Zealand 4-1 and Guinea 3-0.

Striker Kevin Paredes and midfielder Djordje Mihailovic have led the team's attack while Columbus Crew keeper Patrick Schulte has anchored the defense in net as the USA hopes to make its first semifinals since 2000.

Opening night of track & field in Paris

The stage is set at the Stade de France for the first night of track & field action at the Paris Olympics. While the men's 10,000m race will be the only final, numerous events will have their preliminary rounds, including the men's shot put and mixed 4x400m relay.

The men's decathlon will also get underway in the morning and continue in the evening before handing out medals on Saturday. Live track & field coverage on NBC4 begins at 1 p.m.
