Republican declares 'keep women's sports female' in slur-filled screed targeting boxer
Firebrand Missouri Secretary of State candidate Valentina Gomez is out with a new, slur-filled video — this time attacking an Olympic boxer.
Algerian boxer Imane Khelif defeated Italian Angela Carini in under a minute by forfeit. Khelif is a woman from birth, with female anatomy.
She has naturally-occurring high testosterone levels and failed an unspecified "gender test" last year conducted by the International Boxing Association. The controversial governing body was decertified by the International Olympic Committee over its lack of transparency.
Because of this, right-wing commentators have falsely claimed that Khelif is biologically male or transgender, even though her country of origin doesn't allow gender transition. Former President Donald Trump compared her to a horse, while his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), described her as a "grown man pummeling a woman."
Gomez's response went far beyond even that.

"These f----ts should get their own f----t category, because before if a man hit a woman, it used to land him in jail. Now it gets you a gold medal at the Olympics," said Gomez. "These are the worst Olympics in history. They have made a mockery out of Christianity and women. And let me remind you: there's no such thing as a chick with a d---. Keep women's sports female."
Gomez, a real estate investor, has built her campaign largely on internet trolling.
She first attracted public notice with a video in which she incinerated LGBTQ-themed library books with a flamethrower, proclaiming that on her watch, all "grooming books" would meet the same fate.
One of her main campaign slogans has become, "Don't be weak and gay." And she put out a video on Juneteenth calling Black Americans "ungrateful" and telling them to "get the f--- out" of the country if they didn't love it.
