One dead after officer-involved shooting in SE Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - According to police, one person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in southeast Oklahoma City Friday morning.
According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers responded to the area of SE 70th St. and Sooner Rd. around 3 a.m. regarding a disturbance call.
Upon arrival, police say they found a man having a mental health episode walking in the road with a weapon. Officers tried to deescalate the situation before using less-lethal rounds on the man, but he did not drop his weapon.
"There were two occasions where officers deployed a less-lethal 40-milimeter impact rounds to try to get a response from the subject, get him to comply, put the gun down." said Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with OKCPD.
Officials say he then pointed the gun at police when officers shot and killed him.
The investigation is ongoing. No more information is available.
