Isotita accuses health ministry of ‘abuse of power’
Isotita trade union has accused the ministry of health of abusing its power by instructing the staff of the national health scheme (Gesy) supervision commissioner’s office – an independent authority – to continue working under the health ministry until a new commissioner is appointed.
The union said Gesy’s legislation provides for the appointment of a commissioner by the cabinet.
Isotita said it was “with surprise” that it heard letters had been sent by the health ministry to the staff of the commissioner’s office.
“This action on behalf of the health ministry can be considered a form of abuse of power, as it usurps responsibilities belonging to an independent authority.”
Isotita met with the Independent Authority against Corruption, which said it would follow the legal and operational gap and would await developments.
