Oklahoma State Medical Examiner rules 2017 shooting a homicide

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - A shooting from 2017 has been ruled a homicide after the victim died six years later.
On August 8, 2017, police responded to a shooting at 715 NW 91st St. around 1 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found 49-year-old Andre Jones injured with a gunshot wound and 32-year-old Jeffery Garcia was sentenced to prison for the shooting.
Officials say on January 11, 2024, Jones passed away. The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office determined he died as a result of the shooting, ruling his death a homicide.
According to police, it will be the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office's decision whether Garcia will face more charges.
