Ben Affleck Is Reportedly Jealous of Matt Damon's Friendship With This A-List Star
Is Ben Affleck having a summer of FOMO? Well, that fear-of-missing-out feeling might be real because he’s reportedly a tad jealous over his Boston BFF Matt Damon’s friendship with another Hollywood A-lister while he deals with his separation from Jennifer Lopez.
It seems that Damon has been enjoying his friendship with Bradley Cooper this summer, so much so that he and wife Luciana Barroso enjoyed a vacation to Denmark with the A Star Is Born actor and his daughter Lea, 7. “This is a big kick in the teeth for Ben because he tried to arrange a vacation with Matt and got the brush off,” a source told Life & Style. “Matt told him he was too busy, and now he’s suddenly in Europe hanging out with Bradley Cooper, and Ben’s been totally left out.” We would say that three’s a crowd, but Succession actor Jeremy Strong was also included in the European holiday.
The insider claimed that “Ben would have dropped everything to join them,” but Damon apparently has a reason for leaning into his Cooper friendship. “Matt clearly wanted some space,” they added. Affleck is obviously going through a lot this summer, but his Good Will Hunting co-star needed a break from “playing therapist.” Another source told the media outlet that Affleck’s painful love lessons have been valuation to Damon — he cherishes his marriage to Barroso even more. “He sees how lonely Ben is, the pain he goes through when he has these break-ups, the cost of it, to his mental stability as well as his bank balance,” the second insider said.
Damon recently praised Affleck to The Hollywood Reporter for their decades-long bond. ‘I think just 43 years into this friendship, it’s just the joy of doing what we love, but being able to do it together,” he said of his recent film, The Instigators, which Affleck produced. “It just doesn’t get any better than that. ‘I feel really lucky to be able to still be making movies at this level with the kind of people that I get to work with. But when some of them are the people that have been my closest and dearest friends for over four decades, it’s a really special thing.”
There are rumors that Affleck and Lopez have finalized the details of their divorce, but have not filed the documents, per the Daily Mail. The 51-year-old star will probably be looking for support once that happens, and hopefully, Damon can be there to support his long-time buddy.
