Have a Day Use pass? Potential price hike coming to Oregon State Park permits

0

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Oregon State Park visitors may soon see a jump in parking pass prices, but not without having a say about it.

A proposal from Oregon Parks and Recreation, if approved, will increase the cost of a parking permit for the first time since 2019 – upping the cost of a single day permit from $5 to a range of $7-15.

Meanwhile, the cost of a 12-month permit would jump from $30 to $40-60 and a 24-month permit would increase from $50 to $60-80.

“Proposed rules will create rate ranges for day use parking permits, similar to campsite and other facilities in state parks,” P&R officials said.

Public comments are currently being accepted online through 5 p.m. on Aug. 30. The department will also host three public hearings:

  • In-person: 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the Nehalem Bay State Park Meeting Hall
  • In-person: 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024 at the North Mall Office Building
  • Virtual: 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21 (Registration available online)

If approved, changes will take effect Jan. 1.
