He hydrated the pop singer’s lips at Coachella using the $21 Ortega Beauty Blu Nectar Lip Oil, a product that’s part of his skincare collection.
A lip combo that’s part of the same collection helped tie the soft browns of her desert-ready makeup together.
“I then used the Ortega Beauty Soft Contour Lip Liner in Xola, diffused with Liquid Icon Hyper Gloss,” Ortega said to NewBeauty.
For Lana’s appearance at the 2024 Met Gala, he reached for the same lip oil and opted for the Soft Contour Lip Liner in the shade “Cinnamon Girl,” named after the singer’s song with the same name.
“I remember I showed Lana one of the shades — I named it Cinnamon Girl after one of her songs, of course,” Ortega said to Nylon.
“It was the first time I had the product in the real packaging, and she started taking selfies with it because I used it on her.
“She was going to post it, and I had to say, ‘Wait, it’s not out yet!’ Luckily for her and for us, the line is now available for everyone to try and enjoy.”
After lining her lips with Cinnamon Girl, Ortega finished up her Met Gala look with the $22 Agave Glow Color Stick in the shade “Petals.”
The secret to her glossy and plump lips, he added, rests in the power of his go-to lip oil.
Ortega explained that it was extremely versatile and worked on everyone.
“The Blue Nectar Lip Oil is amazing. It’s for lip care and hydration, and I use it to prep every client,” he said to NewBeauty.
“Everything in my line has a purpose.”
He explained that the blue packaging of his line pays tribute to his culture and Mexican roots.
“During product development, we discovered the benefits of blue agave, which comes from Jalisco, where I was born. It magically tied into the brand,” he said.

“I think this is the best lip liner I’ve ever tried, and I’ve [got] some expensive ones home in my drawer,” they said.
“I only use roll-up lipliners. It’s impossible to find ones that are long wearing, until now!” said another.
“These are the best I have found. You won’t be disappointed.”
“Perfect color and consistency. The undertones of these liners are impeccable,” added a third.
