Widden Celebrate Zoustar Achievements
Zoustar has been fully booked since May with a tsunami of winners in the latter part of the season driving him to new heights.
ZOUSTAR equalled the Australian record with 208 winners in a season and became just the second sire in history to record 200+ winners.
The pride of Widden hit the rarefied “double century” milestone in 2023/24 in an extraordinary season that also saw him break the Australian record for wins with 364!
ZOUSTAR amassed over $24m+ in progeny earnings, 17 Stakes winners, 27 Stakes wins, 4 Group 1 winners, 5 Group 1 wins, 29 Stakes horses, 208 winners and an Australian record 364 wins.
Impressively, the stallion led all comers by Winners, Stakes Winners, Group 1 Winners and 3YO Winners
The handsome bay was Crowned Champion 3YO Stallion and remarkably he had 38 horses run an elite Timeform figure of at least 100 this season.
ZOUSTAR dominated the sale series as well, with SEVEN million dollar plus yearlings, grossing $41,230,000 and averaging $490,833 from 84 lots sold in 2024.
“What Zoustar has achieved with his progeny, not only on the racetrack, but also in the sales ring (14 million dollar plus lots in the last 18 months), has been nothing short of sensational. And I firmly believe the best is yet to come, which is an exciting proposition for his supporters,” said Antony Thompson.
“It’s fantastic to see his sire son and barnmate Zousain begin his career so brilliantly as well, with four individual juvenile Group performers in his first crop. Zousain’s first season stats compare favourably with Zoustar’s freshman year, in fact he has had more winners than Zoustar himself. Tellingly, seven of Zousain’s eleven winners have won at metropolitan level and with 151 rising 2yo’s to his name we have huge expectations for him going forward.
“With sire sons of Zoustar heading to stud with regularity, we are proud that he’s a stallion that will be playing a big part in the Australian breeding landscape for generations to come.
“To sire 208 winners in a season and break the Australian record for wins (364) is a remarkable performance. He has basically averaged a win a day for an entire year, which is phenomenal!
“Zoustar is just an exceptional horse and he’s doing exceptional things.”
Zoustar stands at a fee of $275,000 this spring and Zousain at $27,500.
