Rare £2 coin is worth more than £1,000 thanks to tiny error – check to see if you have a goldmine in your change
WE ALL love a trick to make cash quick. But there could already be a small fortune sitting in our loose change.
According to one TikTok user, having a series of rare £2 coins in your pocket could be worth way more than their face value.
Posting to his 172,100 followers, TikTok user @CoinCollectingWizard has claimed that you can “get rich from UK change”.
The content creator posts a series of videos of how to identify rare coins, which could be worth a pretty penny.
In a recent clip, the coin connoisseur said “Look out for these £2 coins. This coin launched to mark 100 years since the First World War. The error version is missing the words £2 from the head side”
“The 2014 coin was launched nine years ago to mark 100 years since the start of the First World War.
They add: “Only the version with the missing wording is worth this kind of money around £1,000+.”
The TikTok user then goes on to describe another coin which has a “rare runny fried egg” appearance.
“A design error on some of these £2 coins has left them looking like a runny fried egg as the middle has split out onto the outer rim”.
The final rare coin @CoinCollectingWizard told his followers to look our for is from 2014, and has the wrong inscription.
This coin could reportedly sell for £30, if not slightly more.
The video received dozens of likes and comments from fans.
One said: “I mean wouldn’t mind being rich”.
Another praised the expert’s knowledge: “Good work deserves an appreciation”.
