Olympics 2024 champion forced to apologise to her own DAD after ‘really mean’ jibe on live TV
OLYMPICS star Jess Fox apologised to dad Richard following her “savage” joke at his expense.
Star canoeist Fox, 30, comes from an incredible sporting family.
Her sister Noemie, 27, won gold at Paris 2024 in the kayak cross, adding to Jess’ canoe slalom victory from Tokyo.
Their dad Richard, who hails from Somerset, was a world champion canoeist.
But while he triumphed several times at the World Championships, an Olympic medal failed to materialise.
He came agonisingly close at Barcelona 1992, but just missed out – coming fourth.
Jess and Noemie’s mum, Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi, won bronze in the canoe slalom at Atlanta 1996.
Following Noemie’s win, Jess brutally joked: “It means that poor dad is the only one without an Olympic medal!”
Appearing on Channel Nine in Australia the following day, she rowed back from her joke.
She said: “I was pretty savage in my interview, and I realised after that was really mean, sorry dad.”

She added: “You have a great resume, 10-time world champion, amazing… We’ve got four gold medals in the family, so there’s one for everyone.”
Proud father Richard was involved in an awkward moment after Noemie’s gold medal triumph.
Having appeared on Nine’s Aussie coverage, he asked if he could abandon the commentary box in order to celebrate with his daughter.
Incredibly, presenter David Culbert replied: “No, just hang on for one second, because we do need to get your reaction.”
