Man Utd now told to pay £21.5m to sign four-time league winner - Sky Sport journalist
Manchester United are making progress towards signing a new right-back this summer.
The Red Devils currently have Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as their specialist right-backs, but the latter is expected to leave the club.
West Ham United are in advanced talks for the 26-year-old and they are pushing to land his signature before the start of the new campaign.
Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg now reports that United are making good progress in the pursuit of Bayern star Noussair Mazraoui. He has been identified as Wan-Bissaka’s replacement.
The negotiations are ‘more concrete’ when compared to Matthijs de Ligt. It is reported that the Red Devils will have to pay at least £21.5 million including add-ons for the Morocco international.
A transfer will materialise only after Wan-Bissaka’s move to West Ham.
United need to speed up Wan-Bissaka’s exit to sign Mazraoui
Wan-Bissaka has entered the final year of his contract at United. The club have decided to part ways with him. The Hammers appear in a good position to land his signature.
There is talk of a possible swap deal involving Wan-Bissaka and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, but the Red Devils clearly prefer the former to move to the London Stadium.
In our view, manager Erik ten Hag could be behind the club’s stance. He previously worked with Mazraoui at Ajax for four seasons and appears to be eyeing a reunion with him.
The Dutch tactician believes the 26-year-old could unlock the potential of Antony on the right wing. Mazraoui had a good chemistry with the Brazil international at Ajax.
Hence, it could be a matter of time before United land the signature of Mazraoui, who would be an upgrade on Wan-Bissaka when it comes to attacking contributions.
Mazraoui, who has won four league titles in his career with Ajax and Bayern, has already agreed terms on a long-term contract with United ahead of his anticipated transfer.
