McDonald’s confirms the exact date that popular Monopoly game is returning to restaurants
MCDONALD’S has confirmed the exact date that its popular Monopoly game is returning to restaurants.
The popular fast food chain revealed that the competition will be returning next months – and the date is right around the corner.
The date the game returns is just around the corner[/caption]McDonald’s Monopoly will return on Wednesday, September 4, to the delight of fast food fans.
This means in just a few weeks time fans will have the chance to win hundreds of prizes including free food and money.
The competition will run for six weeks and end in October.
We still do not know the exact prizes up for grabs, but if it is anything like last year customers are in for a treat.
The top prizes last year included £100,000 in cash for four winners and 2,000 “gold cards”, which gives you free Maccies meal a week for a year.
Back in 2021, the game started on August 25 and ran for six weeks while it was paused in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
How does McDonald’s Monopoly work?
Players who take part in Monopoly can collect stickers from their food packaging that represent train stations or colour co-ordinated road names – much like the classic game.
But not all menu items are worth the same amount, and this determines how you redeem a prize.
For example, instant win food prizes can be redeemed at any McDonald’s branch by handing the token over at the counter when you order.
You’ll need to hand the game pieces over to a member of staff when you collect your meal.
To find your nearest store, just search using the store locator on McDonald’s website.
But if you’ve got a winning token or code, you may need to provide some of your personal details to be able to redeem it, such as your date of birth, email address and phone number.
You will then be asked to choose how you want to receive your winnings, which will be either via email or delivery.
There’s also a chance you’ll get an app play code to collect. This will be clear when you peel off the sticker.
You’ll need to have the app to enter the code and see if you’ve won a prize.
It’s free to download the app either from the Google Android or iPhone app stores.

How to save money at McDonald’s
You might not think it, but you can end up being charged more solely based on the McDonald’s restaurant you choose.
Research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30p cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart from each other.
Meanwhile, you can pick up a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 by filling in a feedback survey found on any old McDonald’s receipt.
The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey.
You’ll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer.
Make sure you check out all the various apps and platforms if you’re ordering McDonald’s to your home too.
Our research found some can charge up to £1.20 more than others.
