Tottenham are ready to step up their interest in Ivan Toney this week as Ange Postecoglou searches for a new first-choice striker, despite recent links with Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.
Tottenham in Solanke talks with Bournemouth
Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday that Tottenham have entered into talks with Bournemouth over a potential deal for Dominic Solanke. The journalist even revealed that Solanke himself has given a green light to a possible transfer.
It is said that Spurs want to push to get a deal done as early as this week, with the start of the Premier League season now under two weeks away.
HITC went one step further and reported that Tottenham are even willing to activate Solanke’s £65m release clause in order to push a deal through this summer.
Spurs step up Ivan Toney pursuit
The latest update on Tottenham’s striker search comes from TalkSPORT and Alex Crook, with the journalist revealing that Spurs are ready to ‘step up’ their pursuit of Ivan Toney.
Although Solanke is reportedly still on Tottenham’s list this summer, the North London club also have ‘concrete interest’ in Toney, with Brentford potentially willing to accept bids of just £50m.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has also weighed in on the story, stating that there has been ‘no movement’ on Solanke to Spurs, but a new striker is a priority and Ivan Toney is a ‘concrete’ target.

It sounds like Tottenham are perhaps negotiating for both Toney and Solanke, Fabio Paratici style, before choosing whatever they deem to be the best deal.
Personally, I think Solanke is the better fit for Postecoglou’s system but Toney is the better player and potentially the cheaper option – so it’s going to be a really interesting saga.
