1. Canal system preps for impact of Tropical Storm Debby
The Canal Corporation is lifting the Erie Canal’s movable dam in preparation for Tropical Storm Debby’s impacts. The dam between Lock E-8 in Rotterdam and Lock E-15 in Fort Plain will move at 9 a.m. on Thursday to allow for the complete lowering of the canal to winter levels.
2. Man who fatally shot Schenectady woman dies from self-inflicted gunshot wound
The man who shot and killed a Schenectady woman has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
3. Scotia FD receives new chest compression devices
A local fire department has some new equipment that could save lives. The Scotia Fire Department recently purchased new chest compression devices, which perform CPR.
4. Delmar home of former UN Weapons Inspector raided by FBI
FBI officials were at a home on Dover Drive in Delmar conducting law enforcement activity connected to an ongoing federal investigation. According to property records, the home belongs to former USMC Intelligence Officer and United Nations Weapons Inspector William Scott Ritter Jr.
5. 1 dead, 1 seriously injured in Troy crash
The Troy Police Department is on the scene of a single-car crash on Red Rock Road. One person died and another was seriously injured, said police.
