Paris Olympics 2024: Antim Panghal Denies Wrongdoing At Games Village, Issues Clarification – WATCH VIDEO

Paris: Indian wrestler Antim Panghal has denied any wrongdoing at the Paris Olympics 2024 and revealed that she wasn’t taken by police for questioning. Following a defeat in her opening women’s 53kg category clash, it was reported that Antim’s sister Nisha had used her accreditation card to enter Games Village and was detained by the police. Soon after, it was stated that Antim’s accreditation had been cancelled and her entire entourage would be deported to India the next day.

However, things were not so as it was reported according to Antim. “I had come here to the Olympics, there was a bout yesterday (Wednesday). I got defeated. It is wrong that the police had taken me. When I was defeated, I caught fever,” Antim said in a video posted by PTI.

“I sought permission to visit my sister at a hotel. The permission was given. I went to the hotel. I wanted my luggage, which was kept in the village. Then my sister went to the village with my accreditation card. She asked for my luggage. They took my accreditation card and took her to the police station for the verification,” added Antim, who had become the first Indian wrestler to qualify for Paris Olympics 2024.

It was also reported that one of Antim’s personal support staff fought with a cab driver. “They are saying that the coach fought with cab driver. But it was not so. We had booked his cab, he came to the hotel. He told the driver that he did not have the Euro and hence came to the room to take Euro to pay him. It led to an altercation but not like it is being talked,” she added.
