Nottingham Forest Set For Disappointment In Pursuit Of Aston Villa Man

Nottingham Forest are set to face disappointment in the chase for midfielder Lamare Bogarde as Aston Villa are finalising a new contract to extend his stay, according to The Athletic.

The 20-year-old has managed just one senior appearance for the Villans so far but manager Unai Emery does not want to lose him.

Since Bogarte can operate both as a defender as well as a defensive midfielder, he is expected to be the Spanish manager’s go-to option in case of the departure of Diego Carlos.

Keeping those plans in mind, the club are planning to give the 20-year-old a new contract to extend his stay beyond the summer of 2025.

Aston Villa’s plans will be a blow for Nottingham Forest, who have been trying to get their hands on Bogarde this summer.

Emery used the Dutch defender in their 3-2 pre-season win over Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.

Bogarde has been out on two separate loan spells since joining, both of which have been at Bristol Rovers.

He has been on the bench for Aston Villa in a number of Premier League matches as well.
