Campbell Avenue reopens, construction continues
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Campbell Avenue has officially reopened for vehicles, but construction to parts of the road is still underway, according to Mayor Carmella Mantello. Motorists may see one-way traffic patterns until construction is fully finished.
In June, multiple construction projects began, resulting in closing the road. The road was closed from Donegal Avenue to Sherman Avenue, with posted detours.
"We’re excited to see Campbell Avenue, a major corridor in our city, finally receive the long-awaited infrastructural improvements it deserves," Mayor Mantello said. "We want to thank everyone for their patience as we completed this project. Campbell Ave is once again open for business."
The improvements included a road reconstruction, with excavating two feet down and rebuilding it from the ground up, installing road fabric, asphalt and various underdrains with new catch basins and drainage pipes. However, work to the sidewalks and curbs with accessible ramps is still ongoing.
"These upgrades are not just about improving the road surface," Mayor Mantello continued. "They are about enhancing safety, accessibility, and the quality of life for our residents. We are committed to ensuring that Campbell Avenue serves our community well for years to come."
Temporary striping has been applied but once the project is fully complete, permanent striping will be applied. The mayor said the project should be done in the next few weeks and drivers should be cautious when driving Campbell Avenue.
