Bicyclist killed in Poughkeepsie crash

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department (TPPD) is investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist that occurred on August 8. The crash took place on Vassar Road near Malmros Terrace.

According to police, a bicyclist riding north on Vassar Road on Thursday afternoon collided with a Dodge Ram truck heading south after the bicyclist reportedly crossed into the truck's path. The rider, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to a local hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

Vassar Road was temporarily closed while the crash scene was assessed. Police say the truck driver has been cooperative during the investigation, which remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have information is asked to contact TPPD at (845)790-4686.
