In the past three years, the area under foodgrain cultivation in Punjab increased but the cultivation of millets remained stagnant at 0.01%. Despite efforts by central and state governments to promote millet farming during the International Year of Millets, the area decreased from 12,000 ha in 2021-22 to 7,000 ha in 2023-24.
