Apple secretly creating new ‘cheap’ AirPods with handy charging feature iPhone owners will love if they have right model
APPLE fans can expect to see two new AirPods models as soon as next month – and they boast a surprise charging feature.
Rumors have swirled ahead of the release of the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch lineups, which are expected to debut in September.
Insiders and leakers say fourth-generation AirPods will boast a USB-C charging port, replacing the Lightning port – and the more expensive model will have a surprise noise cancellation feature[/caption]With that drop may come two new versions of the fourth-generation AirPods wireless earbuds with a varied price range.
The new models are said to be analogous to the third- and second-generation AirPods, released in 2021 and 2019, respectively.
However, they come with a twist. The more expensive model may include active noise cancellation, making it the first non-Pro model to do so.
The feature, also known as ANC, reduces background noise to boost a user’s listening experience.
Apple is also expected to swap Lightning ports for USB-C ports on the upcoming charging cases.
The change would allow the same cable to be used with newer AirPods, the iPhone 15 series, and, presumably, forthcoming models.
The rumors were supported by a post on Weibo earlier this year that hinted at the release of new AirPods Max headphones.
Industry analysts say these are expected to launch between 2024 and 2025.
However, the Weibo leaker pledged the new model would come out this year with a change “to a USB-C port.”
This may be the only notable difference, as the newer AirPods will likely retain the Apple-designed H1 chip.
This high-tech processor powers the tech giant’s earbuds and Beats headphones.
The leaker further claimed the AirPods Max would not support the adaptive audio feature exclusive to the second-gen AirPods Pro.
The feature combines active noise cancellation and Transparency Mode to block loud noises and improve voice capture during a call.
Insiders say an updated AirPods Pro model isn’t expected to arrive before 2025.
Supply chain leakers predicted the arrival of a new AirPods Max model sometime this year, also with a USB-C port[/caption]Weibo has reliably delivered supply chain leaks ahead of Apple‘s latest release.
Users on the Chinese social media network recently shed some light on color options for the iPhone 16, including a surprise “Rose” shade.
A leaked photo of camera rings for the iPhone 16 Pro confirms that there will be four colors.
Leakers say the phone will be available in black, white or silver, gray, and a “Rose” replacing Blue Titanium.
Last month, a Weibo user clarified that the Rose color would differ from “the rose gold on the iPhone 6S,” though it is unclear if it will be more pink than gold.
