Oklahoma Highway Patrol help locate missing 3-year-old boy in McCurtain County woods
MCCURTAIN COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — In early August, two Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers located a missing 3-year-old boy who was lost in a heavily wooded area of McCurtain County for four hours.
McCurtain County Sheriff's requested the assistance of OHP in locating the missing 3-year-old who, at the time, had been missing for 1.5 hours.
Upon arrival, OHP Troopers Jeffery Morris and Jake Phillips called on the OHP Emergency Response Team, OHP aircraft division, several live search dog teams and local resources including Broken Bow Fire and Rescue and Garvin Fire and Rescue.
Officials say a thorough search began around the last known location of the missing child. Troopers Jayden Pingleton and Jake Phillips began to search areas that had several large bodies of water, walking more than a mile towards a wetland area.
Once arriving to the area, Phillips and Pingleton both located the missing child who was clinging onto his two dogs while being stuck in thick section of mud.
The child was found to be unharmed and was assessed by McCurtain County EMS before being reunited with his family.
