Floods from 'training thunderstorms' lead to rescues; 2 dead

OXFORD, Connecticut: Two women were swept away in the torrential rains that turned streets into raging rivers in parts of Connecticut and New York's Long Island, trapping people in cars and a restaurant, canceling flights, and covering vehicles in mud.

There were dramatic rescues in western Connecticut late on August 18 and early the next day as a foot of rain came down so fast that it caught drivers unaware. Co
