CHANNEL 5 has confirmed the return of two of its biggest shows as it looks set to undergo its biggest shake-up yet with a major new rebrand.

The show will be ditching its current name to be simply known as 5 in a bold new move.

Dalgliesh is also making a comeback

Bosses at the network have made the decision in a bid to streamline its linear channel with its online on-demand output in a similar vein to Channel 4.

The network’s current streaming service My5 will also be dropped in favour of simply going by the numerical name 5.

As part of the plans, both All Creatures Great and Small and Dalgliesh will take centre stage with release dates expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The two programmes are now expected to form part of Channel 5’s staple schedule and become the network’s flagship shows.

Channel 5 is owned by Paramount who have seen a recent boom thanks to the launch of their on-demand subscription based site, Paramount+.

However, it is thought that as part of Channel 5’s re-brand, they are hoping to feature more content from their sister networks, MTV, CBS and Comedy Central, than ever before.

Ben Frow, the Chief Content Officer for Channel 5 and Paramount+, told Deadline there was a “huge appetite” for Channel 5 content and that would continue to be reflected in the new model.

Recently, actor Callum Woodhouse confirmed that he would be back for all the action on the next series of the farm-based programme All Creatures Great and Small.

Callum, who plays beloved vet Triston Farnon, was absent from the show’s fourth season.

The character was missing because he was called up to serve in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.

However, it has now been confirmed that he’ll be making his way back to Yorkshire next season.

This comes after Channel 5 confirmed Tristan will make an “unexpected return later in the series.”

The broadcaster also confirmed that alongside Callum, the main cast will all be reprising their roles for the upcoming fifth season. This includes Nicholas Ralph as vet James Herriot, Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as Mrs Hall, Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot, Patricia Hodge as Mrs Pumphrey, and series 4 newcomer James Anthony Rose, who plays Richard Carmody.

Where is All Creatures Great and Small filmed?

All Creatures Great and Small follows the life and work of veterinary surgeons, James Herriot and Sigfried Farnon, set to the stunning back drop of the Dales.

The show is filmed in the Yorkshire Dales, which is where All Creatures Great and Small is also set.

Some of the show was also shot in Arncliffe, the village used for some aspects of Skeldale House, and Yockenthwaite Farm.

A local pub called The Devonshire was used as the exterior for the fictional inn, The Drovers Arms.
