1. Longtime civil rights activist Dr. Alice Green passes away

A long-time community activist has passed away. Sources tell NEWS10 that Dr. Alice Green has died. Green spent her life fighting for civil rights and equality in the justice system. She was born in South Carolina and moved to the Adirondacks as a young girl.

2. Albany PD make arrest in connection to July shooting

A Cohoes man is facing charges after a shooting in the city of Albany. The shooting took place around 4:45 p.m. on July 20 in the area of Madison Avenue and Trinity Place.

3. New York’s high court rules voting early by mail is constitutional

New York’s top court affirmed Tuesday that a measure expanding access to absentee voting in the state is constitutional, rejecting a lawsuit led by House GOP Chair Elise Stefanik (N.Y.). 

4. Albany Med nurses picket as new contract negotiations continue

Nurses at Albany Medical Center picketed outside the hospital and held a candlelight vigil Tuesday as negotiations on a new contract continue.

5. The three options for Saratoga Lake’s Snake Hill

Snake Hill, a 30-acre forested dome off of Saratoga Lake in Stillwater, was bought by Saratoga Preserving Land and Nature (PLAN) at the beginning of 2024 for $1 million. The non-profit community-based conservation organization is now deciding what to do with the land.
