A NEW NETFLIX documentary on the 7/7 terror attacks on London promises to deliver “the untold story” that will change the way we think about the bombings.

The streaming giant says the programme is full of fresh revelations about the horrific events of July 7, 2005, when four explosions killed 52 people and injured more than 700.

Called 7/7: Hunting The London Bombers, it will include shocking testimony from investigators, intelligence services, family members and survivors, including one man who confronted one of the attackers as the terrifying contents of his homemade bomb spilled out of his rucksack.

Speaking in a clip shown at the Edinburgh TV Festival, the man, who isn’t identified, said: “I have no distinct memory of him prior to the bang.

“Once the smoke starts to clear, I can distinctly see him. He was screaming, I thought he was in pain, so I said, ‘Look, I can help you’. He was frightened, I thought I’m dealing with someone who is scared, I’m dealing with someone who needs help but he didn’t want my help.

“His demeanour came across quite aggressive, he’s now threatening to kill me.

“I could then see on the floor the remnants of his rucksack, and I was like, ‘What the f**k is that? Tell me what that is. I want to know what that is.’

“What’s on the floor is this mass of yellow foam. It was popping and fizzing. I can quite clearly see nuts and bolts and nails.

“The point of realisation is a terrifying one because he’s not just a young man, this is someone who’s trying to kill us.”

The documentary, revealed at this week’s Edinburgh TV Festival, will explore the weeks following the attacks, as well as the hunt to discover those responsible.

Netflix’s documentary manager Nelesh Dhand said: “For an event that is so well-known and has been well-covered over the years, there is still a colossal amount of information that the public just don’t know at all.

“Not just about what happened on that day, but actually what happened after it.

“When there was the biggest manhunt to take place and the police faced the almost impossible task of stopping those who were responsible.”

He added: “We’re very lucky, we’ve got people who’ve never spoken on the subject before.

“So, it’s rich with revelations and has the potential to really change the way you think about those events.”

A total of 56 people died in the 7/7 London Bombings, including the four suicide bombers.

The group were armed with rucksacks full of explosives as they used public transport to attack central London.

Altogether, they detonated four devices –  three on the Underground and one on a double-decker bus.

Three of the bombs detonated just before 8.50am on Tube trains that had departed King’s Cross.

The fourth and final attack took place at 9.47am on a double-decker bus in Tavistock Square, not far from King’s Cross.

The number 30 bus was torn apart in front of the headquarters of the British Medical Association, where a conference was being held and doctors raced to the scene to assist.

About 7/7: Hunting The London Bombers will stream on Netflix.
