PAK vs BAN: Saim Ayub and Saud Shakeel hit Fifties to cover Pakistan’s Fumble; score 158/4

0

Since the Day 1 of the first test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh saw a delayed start due to rain and wet field, the hosts got off to a really dull and gloomy start. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first, which came in their favour as they managed to dismiss three batters by the 9th over.

The early attack from Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud took out the top order of Pakistan on their heels, which resulted in them losing wickets in succession. By the 10th over, the key batters including captain Shan Masood and star batter Babar Azam were back to the dugout. Masood’s dismissal was fuel for a controversy, and he was also seen having a conversation with the umpires as the DRS declared him out.

Pakistan team was struggling and needed a good partnership in order to take them away from that position, which was done by Saim Ayub and Saud Shakeel. Both of them made a much-needed 98-run partnership for their team, which took the team to a relatively good position. Saim made his maiden Test fifty but then got out after scoring 56 runs of 98 balls. After him, Shakeel partnered with Mohammad Rizwan and they continued to keep the progression of the scoreboard till the end. Pakistan’s score at Day 1 is 158/4.
