I’m 41 and tanning beds in my 20s definitely took a toll on my skin – but my twice-monthly habit keeps my face fresh
A GLOWING complexion came at a price for one woman who turned to tanning beds in her 20s.
Stephanie Mearse said it took more than applying beauty products at home to regain a youthful appearance.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared tips for defying the visible signs of aging.
BALANCING ACT
Mearse committed to taking care of herself in her 20s by making a good cleanser and moisturizer a staple in her routine.
She would get regular facials, wash her face every night, and reduced her alcohol and caffeine intake to avoid breakouts.
However, she admits that a bad habit counteracted her efforts.
“I used tanning beds frequently and spent a lot of time on set, which took a toll on my skin,” she said.
“The less alcohol I drank, the better my skin looked.
“Eating healthier made my skin glow, and I noticed I had fewer breakouts when I was mindful of what I put into my body.
“What we consume impacts our overall health, and our skin reflects that in a big way.”
SIMPLE STEPS
A dedicated skincare routine has been a major factor in helping Mearse to have a youthful appearance.
“I start with a gentle cleanser to wash away impurities, then follow it up with a toner to balance my skin’s pH levels,” she said.
“Next, I use a good moisturizer to keep my skin hydrated throughout the day.
“I also apply a specialized cream for under my eyes to keep that area smooth and prevent puffiness.
“I never skip this routine because I’ve learned that taking care of your skin every day is key to keeping it healthy.
“Additionally, I get facials once or twice a month, which keeps my skin looking fresh.”
EXPENSIVE EXTRAS
Mearse said she isn’t loyal to a specific brand or product but reliant on the recommendations of her facialist.
Skincare not only enhances your appearance but also boosts your confidence so it’s worth investing in.
I aim for at least 8 to 12 hours of sleep every night, which helps my skin repair and regenerate.

Rodan & Fields and D Tox are among the brands that she’s currently using.
“There’s a product I get from Mexico that is absolutely incredible for lifting the face,” she said.
“It’s pricey at around $5,000 but it works after just one use.
“I don’t know if many people have heard of it, but it’s definitely worth the investment if you’re serious about anti-aging.
“When needed, I’ve also turned to Botox to help maintain a youthful glow.”

Sleeping between eight to 12 hours every night and drinking at least 12 bottles of water help to naturally improve skin health.
Mearse revealed these habits aren’t her only “crucial” tips for looking younger.
“Stay out of the sun as much as possible, and make sure you have a solid skincare routine in place,” she said.
“Investing in a good facialist can make a huge difference, and Botox is always a reliable backup if you’re looking for an extra boost.
“Consistency is key, so make skincare a priority in your life.”
