Three men indicted for Carencro school bus murder
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Three people have been indicted for the murder of Carencro High School student Jaylin Joiner on a school bus March 1, court records show.
Todd Arceneaux Jr., 20, Damarion Roy, 19, and Malikai Doucet, 19, all of Carencro, were each indicted Wednesday on one count of second degree murder by a grand jury in the 15th Judicial District Court.
Joiner, 18, was shot and killed in the 200 block of Bradford Drive while exiting a school bus, according to authorities.
Second degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
Other indictments Wednesday include Jaquell Carter, who was indicted for second degree murder in the death of Alexis Notto May 10, and Kayden Wilson, who was indicted for second degree murder in the death of Toren Martin June 25.
An indictment is the determination by a grand jury that sufficient evidence exists to bring a defendant to trial.
