Maren Morris Goes All White at 2024 DNC With Classic Heeled Shoes from Schutz
Maren Morris took to the stage for a special performance on night three of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois last night in all white. The singer wore a skirt and jacket suit matched with a pair of classic, pointed toe pump shoes for the moment.
Styled by Dani Michelle, Morris opted for a custom look from the London-based brand David Koma. The midi length skirt and oversized blazer featured circular chrome embellishments throughout.
The jacket was worn without a shirt underneath and Michelle added sparkling, diamond encrusted rings as well as chrome earrings from Anita Ko to complete the look. Marwa Bashir gave the singer a messy updo for hair.
For shoes, Michelle and Morris went classic: an all white leather pump. On Instagram, Michelle credited the footwear brand Schutz.
The footwear is a stiletto pump with a thin heel, likely of about four inches. Unlike Schutz’ Lou pump which features a silhouette where the back of the shoe is practically a straight line, this silhouette comes to a point as the heel itself has a slight curve inward. Morris decorated the shoe with a dainty gold ankle bracelet.
Pumps are a classic staple of a woman’s shoe closet, often in all black or all white. These solid color variations are generally extremely versatile, serving from outfits as casual as jeans and a T-shirt to glamorous evening gowns. The stiletto pump in particular was reportedly innovated by the designer Roger Vivier. He is credited as having popularized the design in 1954 with the Aiguille heel. To create it, he inserted a metal rod into the shoe and made them lighter and more durable than prior heels.
The designs often extend the silhouette and lengthen the leg. Most major women’s shoe brands have their own spin on the classic design.
