Five signs Martine McCutcheon’s marriage was on the rocks before she announced Jack McManus had split with her
MARTINE McCutcheon has split from husband Jack McManus after 18 years together – with the singer and actress confessing it wasn’t her decision.
Today Martine, 48, made the shock announcement her marriage to musician Jack, 40, was over.
The former couple share son Rafferty, nine, and ex-EastEnders star Martine told fans: “Jack has decided it’s best for us to separate.”
But it seems the signs that there was trouble in paradise have been there for a while.
Social media silence
While Jack isn’t the most active person on Instagram, he last posted a photo of his wife on the platform a year ago.
The image showed Martine – who shot to fame as Tiffany Mitchell in EastEnders – with Jack and Rafferty in circus-themed fancy dress.
He captioned it: “Welcome to the circus #family.”
Birthday snub
Earlier this month Martine shared a heartfelt birthday tribute to her husband.
She posted several family snaps, leading with one of proud dad Jack hugging Rafferty.
In the lengthy caption Love Actually star Martine addressed Jack’s recent family heartbreak after the death of his father.
She added: “I hope you feel the love around you today and know, that despite it all, you have the most amazing and rewarding next chapter coming your way! Now, deep breath, let’s have some fun with our boy!”
But Jack failed to like or comment on the post, seemingly completely ignoring it.
Holiday no show
Perfect Moment hitmaker Martine is currently in Marbella with Rafferty, but it appears Jack skipped the holiday.
She took to Instagram to share snaps of them in the pool but Jack was noticeably absent from the photos.
Martine wrote: “In the pool with my little water baby! I love our little cuddles and games…. Nothing else fuels me like Rafferty does. He’s at such a lovely age… He’s like my little bestie these days!”
Cryptic posts
Last month Martine shared a cryptic post on social media about letting people go.
It read: “Let go. Love them from a distance. Let them figure out their feelings, what they want in life, where they’re going, and who they want to be.
“Focus on yourself and your goals while you’re giving them space. And remember, you’re not obligated to still be there waiting when they’re ready.”
And before the shock announcement today she reposted one that said: “I hope you know that your heart is enough.
“You’re smart enough and funny enough and interesting enough. Your smile is enough. Your light is enough.”
Marriage ups and downs
In a previous interview Martine opened up about “ups and downs” in her marriage to Jack.
Speaking to The Sun in 2022, she said: “Both Jack and I have always been honest we don’t have the perfect relationship by any means.
“We’ve had our ups and downs, like everybody. We’ve had our challenges, but I think ultimately we’re each other’s best friend and when life gets tricky and isn’t always as fabulous it’s good you can have somebody you can talk too and confide in and be all of yourself with, and you know that’s a safe space and they’ve got your back.”
