I’m Phoebe Bridgers’ makeup artist – I learned one of my all-time fave tricks working backstage at Paris Fashion Week
A CELEBRITY makeup artist has shared her go-to tricks, including one that she learned at Paris Fashion Week.
Amber Dreadon, a makeup pro whose clientele list includes Phoebe Bridgers, Lorde, Elizabeth Debicki, and more, shared the beauty tips with The U.S. Sun.
The artist, who worked on Phoebe and Boygenius’ makeup for their 2023 Coachella show, explained that one of her top tricks helps her ditch eyeliner but not the drama.
“One of my all-time favorite makeup tricks is to get definition on an eye without having the look of eyeliner,” she said.
“I learned this many years ago working backstage at the Paris Fashion Week shows.
To achieve the look, she lines a bare upper lash line with a $9 eye pencil.
“I love the MCoBeauty Dual Ended Pro Eyeliner in Black,” she said.
“Make sure to smudge the pencil in between the lashes using the attached angle brush.
She amped up the trick using facial wipes of her choice.
“Make sure to get it really dark as close as possible to the lashes, then with an MCoBeauty Double Sided Facial Wipe squeeze on the end of a Q-tip so that it is damp.
“Remove the eyeliner right up close to the lash line but not all the way into the lashes. This way, you leave only an untraceable definition along the lash line that will look even more amazing when you apply mascara but won’t look too made up.”
Dreadon added that she also veers away from a common mistake that she sees all too often.
“I never understand why people have a super matte face but a shiny lotioned and oiled body,” she said.
“I love for the two things to complement each other, and it’s an easy fix. If you want a matte face but still have a glow, use the MCoBeauty Dewy Face Stick and apply generously to the back of your hand so that it warms up,” she said.
“Then use your fingertips to press the product onto the high points of the face; that will reflect the light and add a luminous glow to the skin.
“The top of the cheekbone, brow bone, and even a tiny amount onto the corner of the eye will pop the face and tie it all in perfectly.”
One trend Dreadon does love, however, is glowy and healthy skin.
“I really love the luminous skin trend making a comeback thanks to K-beauty trends!” she said.
“I like to have a few products on hand to help pump up the skin’s natural glow. Prep skin by combining moisturizer with bronzing drops (my fave combo is the MCoBeauty Super Glow Bronzing Drops with the MCoBeauty Souffle Dream Moisturizing Cream).
“Then up the glow and contour by underpainting before foundation.”
She uses MCoBeauty’s Instant Contour Cream Bronzer, drawing dots on the face with the contour, then uses the MCoBeauty Highlight and Glow Beauty Wand to dot on the highlight for the “easiest” way to complete the technique.
“Buff in the dots at the same time using a soft blending brush, then apply a sheer foundation over the top to even the skin tone,” she said.
