The Voice coach left ‘heartbroken’ during upsetting moment during filming before surprising snack lifts her spirits
LEANN RIMES bawled her eyes out as a coach on The Voice – but a Greggs sausage roll lifted her spirits.
She has sung her fair share of emotional ballads over the years but even she was overcome during auditions after joining the ITV show.
The coaches sit with their backs to hopefuls and swivel round if they are impressed with the acts.
Leann said in a chat with Bizarre yesterday: “I cried the whole episodes. I really did. I got really emotional on set.
“It broke my heart that we didn’t turn for people, and we don’t get to see some of the artists. We don’t get to know the stories or watch their backstory. We were all just sitting there heartbroken for those people.
“For me, it’s always about a feeling — do you make me cry? Do you give me chills?
“Can you communicate what you’re singing and hit my heart? Because that’s how you draw people in. And then, when it touches me, I’m turning. That’s the magic.”
The series returns to screens with Sir Tom Jones, Will.I.Am, and other newbies Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones from McFly as the coaches.
To make sure there weren’t too many tears on set and to give themselves a break, they took LeAnn to the see the local sights in Manchester
It included treating the US singer to her first Greggs. “I had a sausage thing, a sausage roll?” she said before moving swiftly on.
Leann said Tom Fletcher gave her a run for her money in the blubbing stakes, adding: “He cried as much as I did. Both of us had a cry-off at some point because we were both so moved by some of these artists.”
After the audition stages, she quickly got attached to her line-up of picks and said of her team: “I have unique artists, all of them.
“What I really loved about them is that they all knew who they were. It made it really hard for me to cut it down.”
Meanwhile, Sir Tom, who is 84 and has been a coach since the first series in 2012, said: “As long as they want me I’ll come back.
“I really love doing it because I like helping people. I like helping singers and would do that anyway. It’s a winning situation. I’m getting a chance to let other singers know the way I feel about them and help them in their career.
“It’s interesting and exciting. If it were the same coaches all the time, it might get boring for the viewers and it’s nice to work with new people.
“Everyone who has come on has fitted in so far.”

Bigfoot spotted in New York
FKA TWIGS has got a taste for the sci-fi look as she gears up to release a new album and treats us to a crazy costume change.
The singer looked otherworldly while out and about in New York, especially with her choice of giant boots.
She switched from navy fabrics to a set of chocolate-coloured leathers.
And while most of her head was shaved, she had long, flowing locks at the back.
Perhaps her hairdresser had an accident with the trimmers.
Earlier this week, she previewed her upcoming album Eusexua during a listening party in the Big Apple.
Twigs went back to square one with the record in October after 85 of her demos were leaked online.
But these style statements suggest her creative juices are well and truly on the front foot again.
Happy Birthday Dua you
DUA LIPA was on cloud nine – almost literally – as she celebrated her birthday yesterday.
She jetted off on an exotic holiday to mark turning 29.
And in pics posted on Instagram, she is seen grabbing a bunch of balloons so big, I’m surprised she didn’t fly away.
She wrote: “29!!! And life just keeps getting better.”
Dua, who looked incredible in an orange bikini and gold top, will get back to it in October, with shows in the US and Asia stretching through to December, as well as a one-off performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Jordan: I’m 150% broody
SPENDING time with Jade Thilrwall’s Little Mix bandmates seems to have rubbed off on her boyfriend Jordan Stephens.
The one half of Rizzle Kicks says he is keen to start a family and make her a mum, just like Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards.
When asked how broody he is, Jordan, who has been dating Perrie for four years, said: “If it’s out of 100, then it’s confidently 150. I think in my relationship, broodiness is a further confirmation of commitment, so if anything, it’s calming.”
He added on The Reggie Yates Podcast: “I’ve seen my best friends raising children and it’s an important part of growth. I don’t think everyone has to have kids but I’ve found myself in a place where I think I’d be open to that.”
Pistols to make comeback
THE Sex Pistols have announced a tour around the UK.
On the comeback, singer Frank Carter joins Paul Cook, Glen Matlock and Steve Jones.
They play at Nottingham’s Rock City on September 20 followed by Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester.
Tickets go on sale at 9am today.
A gig at O2 Kentish Town Forum in London on September 26 was already announced.
Lily dog ate her passport
LILY ALLEN gave an adopted dog back to the home it came from when it ate her family’s passports.
She is about to get a new puppy named after England footballer Jude Bellingham, but admitted her last effort with a mutt ended in disaster.
The mum-of-two said on her Miss Me podcast: “We actually did adopt a dog already but she ate my passport so we took her back to the home.
“She ate all three of our passports and they had our visas in and I cannot tell you how much money it cost me to have everything replaced.
“It was in Covid, so it was just an absolute logistical nightmare. The father of my children lives in England so I couldn’t get them back to see their dad for four or five months.”
Nad making moves
NADINE COYLE is lending her support to the next generation of girl groups.
The Girls Aloud singer appears in the video for British trio Say Now’s new song Trouble, which came out yesterday, because she is such a big fan.
Other new releases include albums from Sabrina Carpenter and Fontaines DC, as well as Coldplay’s single We Pray with Burna Boy, Little Simz, Elyanna and Tini.
MYLES SMITH has followed up his huge hit Stargazing with a track called Wait For You, while Nerina Pallot is back with her single, Regrets.
Dating Kimpossible for Petras
WHEN she last spoke about her love life, Kim Petras told Bizarre that dating was practically impossible for her.
But it sounds like the Brit Award-winner has found someone who knows the struggles of dating as a pop star all too well.
He is Alexander Pall from chart-topping duo The Chainsmokers.
I’ve been told the Unholy singer has been growing close to the DJ, with the pair spending lots of time together in the US.
They were photographed together last month but I’m told they are more than just friends.
A source in Los Angeles said: “Kim and Alex have hung out a lot this summer and they’ve been having a lot of fun.
“Alex split from his long-term girlfriend at the end of last year and wasn’t looking for anything serious.
“They aren’t putting any labels on anything right now but things have been heating up.”
Kim spoke to Bizarre about her love life at the end of 2022.
She said: “It’s been bad, it’s been horrible. I hate the dating world. It’s brutal.
“I don’t feel like being a pop star helps in any way. Dating as a trans girl is hard and dating as a pop star is hard.”
Kim cancelled a series of summer festival performances in April due to unspecified health issues.
I hope Alex has put a smile back on her face.
