'He has an issue': Erik ten Hag confirms another injury blow ahead of Brighton clash
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an injury update ahead of the Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.
The Red Devils started their league campaign with a 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford and they will be aiming to register back-to-back victories in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Ahead of the game, Ten Hag has confirmed a fresh issue for centre-back Victor Lindelof, who was absent from the matchday squad for the curtain-raiser against the Cottagers.
The Dutch tactician said that the Swede has an issue on his toe and won’t be available for the weekend trip to the South Coast, he told reporters: “No confusion, he has an issue on his toe, hopefully he can return quickly but not available for the weekend.”
United have had a tough time with injuries at the start of the season. Leny Yoro has been ruled out until November after undergoing surgery for an ankle injury.
Rasmus Hojlund (hamstring) and Luke Shaw (calf) could return after the international break, but there is no return date for Tyrell Malacia, who is nursing a knee issue.
The club had bad luck with injuries during the 2023/24 season and we are seeing a similar trend.
Nonetheless, United look in better shape with the recent additions of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to the backline. The latter had a fine full debut last week.
Brighton have been a bogey team for the Red Devils with four victories in the last five league outings, but the club secured a 2-0 win at the Amex Stadium earlier in May.
