Mt. Bachelor among ski resorts to hit the market, owner announces
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – In the coming weeks, Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort will be on the market, resort owner POWDR announced Thursday.
A POWDR spokesperson confirmed to KOIN 6 News that the company is selling the Bend resort along with the Eldora Mountain resort in Colorado, and the Silverstar Mountain Resort in British Columbia.
The news comes as the company also announced it reached an agreement to sell their Killington Resort in Vermont.
“To strategically manage POWDR’s portfolio in alignment with our founder’s and stakeholders’ goals, we aim to balance our ski business with new ventures in the National Parks sector and Woodward. Over the coming weeks, we will list three of our ski resorts—Eldora, Mt. Bachelor, and SilverStar—for sale, with JP Morgan Chase managing the process,” POWDR said.
“Until the sales of these four resorts (including Killington) are finalized, we will remain dedicated to our current operations at those ski resorts, plus Copper and Snowbird which we are retaining, Woodward camps and mountain centers, and our two National Park concessions contracts. In addition, we are committed to a seamless transition at all four resorts,” POWDR continued.
In a statement to KOIN 6 News, Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort said amid the upcoming sale, they expect the resort to run “business as usual."
“JP Morgan will be advising the process to find the best owner for Mt. Bachelor and more details will be shared when we have them,” Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort said in part. “We do not expect any changes to products, roles, and operations at Mt. Bachelor for the 24/25 winter season, and we will continue to operate ‘business as usual’ as we work to open the resort for skiing and riding on November 29, 2024.”
It's unclear what the listing price will be for the Bend ski resort.
