Drivers warned over exact times bank holiday traffic jams will be their worst

The August bank holiday weekend is finally here and that can only mean one thing – traffic and travel disruption.

Drivers across the UK are being warned they will face severe congestion on major roads with traffic jams highly likely.

Transport experts have said the worst times for gridlock are expected to be between 10am and 1pm today, with the M5 near Bristol already experiencing delays of up to 50 minutes for motorists heading south-west.

Chaos on the roads will also be impacted by the grim weather, with a Met Office warning for rain in place across parts of the country today.
