‘You’re going to teach, not lift weights’ people say as teacher shows outfits, including shorts & ‘red flag’ hoodies
A FITNESS-LOVING teacher has come under fire after sharing her work outfits, including ”wild” shorts.
The woman who claims to be a middle school teacher, Myranda Bursey, caused fury with a clip showcasing her school looks earlier this summer.
The now-viral video, which has racked up more than a whopping 2million views, sees the gym babe modelling several items in what appears to be an empty classroom.
One of the looks consisted of a pair of comfy high-waist gym shorts showing off her toned legs, as well as a slinky blue vest and a pair of white trainers.
Another outfit included the same baggy shorts which the blonde beauty had styled with an oversized zip-up jacket, whilst carrying a drunk in her protein shaker.
For the third day of the final week of the term the fitness lover styled figure-hugging black shorts with a white T-shirt, as well as a baggy grey zip-up hoodie and classic Vans trainers for footwear.
Another comfy look her students saw Myranda teach them in was an all-black look consisting of an oversized T-shirt and a pair of black shorts with a leggy display.
The following day the gym fanatic had gone for classic denim shorts, a tighter graphic black T-shirt, as well as black Converse trainers.
All chuffed with her outfits, the gym gear lover wrote in the caption: ”Incoming rant: the end of a school year is such a bittersweet feeling.
”I am SO excited for the next couple months of enjoying quality time with my friends and family but also incredibly sad to leave behind my students and work family.
”I feel like as teachers people glorify the fact that we have summers off, but no one mentions how we spend 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 10 months, opening ourselves up, connecting and essentially building a family only just to say goodbye. every. single. year.
”It’s one of the hardest parts about being a teacher.”
She went on: ”If there’s anything my students take away from this year, I hope it’s that they know 1. how great they are, 2. how much they are loved, and 3. the impact they’ve had on me.”
But despite the emotional and heartfelt caption, it wasn’t so much her reflections that got everyone talking – most social media users were more perplexed by her ”work” attire.
One baffled Instagram user said: ”America is wild… we’d be sent home if we turned up like that in the UK.”
Another agreed, writing: ”Shorts are waaaay to short, sorry.”
”No…I’m sorry but shorts as a teacher is not professional,” a third penned, as someone remined she was ”going to teach, not lift weights”.
”Wanting to dress like this around kids is a huge red flag,” someone chimed in, with another branding the fits ”wild”.
Do teachers follow a dress code?

The NEU does not recommend formal dress code for staff in schools.
The NEU believes that staff should be able to dress according to their professional judgement unless this is detrimental to their capacity to do their job or is deemed unsafe or inappropriate for some other objective and reasonable reason.
Schools should take into account the principles set out below:
- Staff have a right to expect respect for their religious beliefs, cultural practices and gender-identity.
- Forms of dress should not interfere with the teaching, learning and assessment process.
- Health and safety of pupils and staff should be assessed.
- Consultation with staff is an essential principle.
- Each case should be considered on its merits in the light of the principles identified in this guidance.
However, not everyone saw an issue with the looks, which seemed to have left people totally divided.
One fan shared their opinion, writing: ”From a school psychologist: the way you dress is spot on for making children feel more comfortable and develop trusting and positive relationships – it’s work appropriate and the children don’t see you as some out of touch person but someone who understands them.”
Another agreed, adding: ”You look cute girl!!! And your energy is so contagious! Keep it up.”
