Two suspects accused of stealing scooter then purse block away in Manhattan, police say
HELL'S KITCHEN, Manhattan (PIX11) -- Two people are being accused of robbing a man for his scooter and then using that scooter to steal a purse a block away in Manhattan on Friday, according to police.
The suspects allegedly walked up to an 18-year-old by 55th Street and Ninth Avenue and demanded his scooter while showing a gun around 11 p.m. One of the suspects hit the victim in the head with the gun and caused bruising before they left with his scooter, according to police.
A block away, near 56th Street and Ninth Avenue, police said the scooter bandits approached a 45-year-old woman and 46-year-old man and allegedly stole the purse from the woman before riding off on the stolen scooter.
The 18-year-old victim has bruising on the face but refused additional medical attention, according to police. The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for a cut to her mouth and leg.
