All NJ Transit train, bus and light rail rides are free this week

0

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – If you plan to take NJ Transit this week, you won't have to pay a fare.

NJ Transit's fare holiday kicked off on Monday. The free transit week is a way to thank customers following numerous interruptions to NJ Transit service throughout the summer, Gov. Phil Murphy said.

All NJ Transit train, bus and light rail rides are free through Sept. 2. You won't need a ticket to board any buses or trains operated by NJ Transit.

The free fare week does not apply to PATH or PATCO trains, privately-owned buses that accept NJ Transit tickets and the AirTrain at Newark Liberty International Airport. You'll also still need to pay for parking at NJ Transit stations.

If you accidentally activate or use a ticket during the free fares week, you can reach out to NJ Transit directly by clicking here.

NJ Transit monthly passes for September are also discounted by 25%.

You will need a ticket to travel on NJ Transit again starting on Sept. 3. For more information on the fare holiday, you can check NJ Transit's website.
