Sen. Wyden on proposed Kroger-Albertsons merger: 'Rotten to the core'
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) sat down with KOIN 6 News to give his perspective on everything from fighting back against corporate price gouging to implementing protections for people receiving organ transplants.
When asked what his thoughts were on a proposed merger between grocery giants Kroger and Albertsons, of which a federal hearing is now taking place, Wyden called the idea "rotten to the core." He said he thinks it could result in unfairly high grocery prices for the consumer.
Wyden was also asked about Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance's proposal of a $5,000 child tax credit. Wyden took a jab at Vance, a Republican Senator representing Ohio, for not voting on a Senate bill championed by Wyden to expand the child tax credit.
