Neighbor of victim reacts to fatal Breaux Bridge shooting
ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A deadly shooting on West Patin Street has Breaux Bridge residents feeling unsafe.
The Breaux Bridge Police Department said they were notified Monday morning of a man who was shot and killed on West Patin Street. Although police haven't released much information on the shooting, family members have identified the victim as Clifford Demouchet Jr.
Letty Williams says she is a close friend of Demouchet. The news of his death came as a shock to her, she said.
"My little brother woke me up and he was like they killed Terres. We was just together Friday night, the momma woke up he dead, with his little girl there. I don't know who would want to do that or why they did it," Williams said.
Williams said Demouchet was a kind person, who brought the best out of everyone he was around.
"He was a good person. We danced together. He loved the way I danced. We cooked, partied, did our lil thing," Williams said.
Williams said Breaux Bridge is evolving into a place that feels unsafe for her and her children.
"Around here you can't tell them to put guns down to be honest with you. Breaux Bridge is changing, that's why I keep my kids in the house," Williams said.
The shooting remains under investigation, police said.
