Not Australia Or Pakistan, THIS Team Has Broken India’s T20I Record Of Most Successive Wins
Among the top cricketing nations, Team India held the record of having won 12 consecutive T20I matches in the period between 2021 and 2022. Apart from the Indian cricket team, Afghanistan were the only Test playing nation to achieve this same feat from 2018 to 2019. But an unknown cricket team from Europe – Spain – have now set a new world record with most successive wins in T20I cricket, winning their 14th consecutive match on Sunday (August 25).
Spain have become the first-ever men’s team to win 14 successive matches in T20I cricket, surpassing the records of Malaysia and Bermuda, who won 13 matches each. The Spanish side achieved this record with a seven-wicket victory over Greece in an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Sub Regional Europe Qualifier Group C match at Port Soif on Sunday. The winning streak for the side started in February last year with a victory over Isle of Man.
Spain lead the table of most T20I wins in a row, Bermuda and Malaysia follow them with 13 consecutive victories each. India and Afghanistan hold the top spot among the Test-playing nations with 12 T20I wins in a row. However, the overall world record for consecutive T20I victories is held by Thailand Women with an unbelievable tally of 17.
Spain now has MOST consecutive wins in men’s T20Is.

Speaking to Cricbuzz website, Spain head coach Corey Rutgers said, “A proud record to be notified about today, we obviously don’t play for records but this does feel special for the group. It has been a transformative few years in Spain, and a lot of credit goes to players who sacrifice a lot of their time to play for Espana, the management and my coaching staff. Couldn’t be prouder of all involved.”
In spite of this amazing record, Spain are unlikely to progress to the European Regional final next year, as a rain-enforced abandonment in their match against Denmark earlier in the week means that they will need Cyprus to stage an unlikely upset against the Danes on Tuesday. Should Denmark win their final group match, they are assured of progressing to the final owing to their superior net run-rate, relegating Spain to the bronze medal match against either Finland or just possibly Guernsey.
“Unfortunately that’s cricket, and we didn’t win convincingly in our first three games. We will have to learn a hard lesson, and come back stronger in the future,” said Rutgers.
By defeating Greece, the Spanish team have moved closer to the record for most consecutive matches unbeaten, currently held by Nigeria, whose 16-match streak last year was similarly interrupted by a no result against Tanzania when rain ended the chase just three balls short of the required five overs.
