Chicago tries to avoid yet another sweep
Yesterday, the White Sox joined an exclusive club, becoming only the second team in the modern era to suffer more than 100 losses in their first 131 games. Here’s a friendly reminder: Chicago has 31 games left to play. Without a doubt, 2024 will end up being the worst in franchise history, with a shot at being the worst in modern baseball. That’s one heck of a season.
The Pale Hose will try to break their three-game losing streak tonight against the Detroit Tigers and avoid their 20th sweep of the season. Davis Martin is the lucky dog assigned to the task. The righthander has been a bit hot and cold since his return from Tommy John surgery, with two solid starts and two shaky ones. Despite being 0-2, he has a pretty good ERA at 3.22, and opponents are only batting .226 off of him. Rookie Ty Madden, the Tigers’ No. 16 prospect, will make his big league debut.
