Radical Abortion Activists Cemented Pregnancy Center’s Entrance Shut After Democrat Convention
Vandals spray-painted messages on the front of a Chicago pro-life pregnancy center and cemented the entrance shut on Aug. 23, according to a recent report from Catholic News Agency.
CNA reported that the vandalism occurred in the early morning of Aug. 23, against the pregnancy center operated by the nonprofit Aid for Women.
According to photos shared on X by longtime volunteer and advisor for the pregnancy center Mary FioRito, the messages spray painted in red on a wall by the center’s entrance read “FAKE CLINIC” and “THE DEAD BABIES ARE IN GAZA.” On the other side of the entrance doors, a large red paint splatter is spray painted over the wall, appearing to drip onto the ground.
FioRito told CNA that the entrance was cemented shut. The photos shared by FioRito on her X account depict the entrance door lock covered in cement, and that cement was poured on the ground where the center’s door opens.

CatholicVote has reported that 95 vandalisms and attacks against pro-life pregnancy centers and groups have occurred since May 2022 in the United States.
In a statement to CatholicVote, FioRito said, “I am shocked and appalled by the violence directed at Aid for Women. AFW is apolitical and exists only to serve women and their children.”
“We pray that God would change the hearts and minds of those who attacked an organization that gives women in desperate circumstances hope and support,” she added.
AFW’s services include ultrasounds, community and medical referrals, and support programs, among other resources, according to its website.
All of AWF’s services are offered free of charge.
Catholic deacon Thomas Bresler founded AFW in 1978, according to AFW’s website. The organization now operates two maternity homes and five pregnancy centers.
Another pro-life organization, Americans United for Life (AUL), posted on X that it donated in support of AFW after the vandalism.
“We wanted to chip in because we were saddened to see the vandalism committed against a pregnancy resource center that provides pregnancy screenings, ultrasounds, and life-saving abortion pill reversals,” AUL CEO John Mize said in a statement to CatholicVote. “The people who work at these centers are heroes.”
