Jay Leno Shares Exclusive Look at New Corvette ZR1
Jay Leno got an up-close look at Chevrolet's new C8-generation Corvette ZR1 in a new episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
Leno, known for his decades-long run on late-night television, is also one of the most recognized names in the automotive industry. He even has the scars to prove it, having suffered multiple severe injuries as a result of automotive-related accidents in November 2022 and January 2023.
Leno released the newest episode of Jay Leno's Garage on Monday, Aug. 26, where he brought on GM’s President Mark Reuss to provide a full breakdown of the new Corvette ZR1's capabilities.
The ZR1 is the pinnacle of Corvette engineering, renowned for its speed, handling, and advanced technology. The C8-generation ZR1 features a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine, producing an astonishing 1,064 horsepower.
The new Corvette ZR1 is one of the most anticipated sports cars on the market. Even Leno was blown away by its beauty and capabilities, which says a lot.
"Now this is the new ZR1 Corvette with 1,064 horsepower, which just seems unbelievable to me," Leno said.
The price point of Chevrolet's newest sports car isn't set yet, according to Reuss. But Leno mentioned that one would have to pay millions to get the equivalent of the new ZR1 overseas from a European automotive manufacturer.
"We haven't priced it yet, but we will," Reuss added. "It's gonna be true to Corvette tradition—aspirational but attainable. And the best amount of horsepower of a bug out there. This will set a new watermark out there."
"Just the engineering involved," Leno interjected, "I mean, you would have to spend literally millions of dollars on a European equivalent."
If Leno's impressed, Chevrolet has built a winner. Check out the full episode below:
