Topeka Boulevard to close for month-long waterline replacement project
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A waterline replacement project will cause a main Topeka road to be closed for the next month.
Starting Thursday, Aug. 29, the City of Topeka announced it Bettis Asphalt & Construction will close the Southwest 27th Street and Southwest Topeka Boulevard intersection. During the closure, crews will be replacing a waterline at that intersection.
According to the City of Topeka, Southwest 27th Street will be closed to thru traffic between Southwest Washburn Avenue and South Kansas Avenue. The road will be open for local traffic. Southwest Topeka Boulevard from Southwest 29th Street to Southwest 27th Street will be open to through traffic, and are advised to follow the signed detour routes listed below:
- NB Topeka Blvd. – east on 29th St. to Kansas Ave., then north to 21st St., then west to Topeka Blvd.
- SB Topeka Blvd. – east on 21st St. to Kansas Ave., then south to 29th St., then west to Topeka Blvd.
The closure at Southwest 27th Street and Southwest Topeka Boulevard is expected to reopen by Sept. 27, weather permitting, according to the City.
