Lidl to open new grocery store location in NYC
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Lidl has announced plans to open a new grocery store location in Manhattan.
The new Lidl store will be located at 408 Grand St. on the Lower East Side. The company expects to open the location in the summer of 2025.
Lidl announced plans for the new store last Thursday and said construction on the property would begin soon. The 23,000-square-foot store will be the third Lidl location in Manhattan.
Lidl signed a lease agreement for the location with Grand Street Guild, a nonprofit that provides affordable housing on the Lower East Side.
“We took a thoughtful and deliberate approach to finding the ideal group to effectively utilize this retail space. Given our long history of service to the residents of our buildings and the surrounding neighborhood, we could not be more pleased in welcoming Lidl US, and we are especially gratified by their robust approach to and practice of corporate social responsibility,” said Kevin Cronin, the chair of the board of directors for Grand Street Guild.
