NYC expands one-minute idling rule to include schools and parks

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- New York City's one-minute idling rule is expanding. Thanks to the Department of Environmental Protection, the rule now applies to vehicles parked near, across, or on the same block as schools and parks.

This is a change to an original proposal to include more spaces. Vehicles can idle for up to three minutes in locations not covered by the one-minute rule.

The regulations hope to improve the problems of fumes and asthma in the city.
