Russell Sage welcomes over 100 former Saint Rose students
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- More than 100 former students from the College of Saint Rose are continuing their education at Russell Sage College. The president of Russell Sage said about 130 students transferred from Saint Rose joining the largest incoming class of students in Russell Sage's 108-year history.
Pres. Matthew Shaftel said Russell Sage is in a strong position to support students and the local economy.
"Create that opportunity for social mobility," he said. "Our job is really to help connect students from middle school, high school, into college, into a higher educational experience. Connect them out to the workforce, and really then, have a transformational opportunity for our community."
Russell Sage has 11 new programs this year. Some were established in response to the closure of Saint Rose, including the Aphasia Center and the Criminal Investigation Resource Center.
