Troy PD continues investigating 2022 fatal shooting

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Wednesday marked two years since a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed just days before he was set to start his freshman year at Lansingburgh High School. He's remembered by his family and community members as a loving, protective and thoughtful boy.

Around 11:30 p.m. on August 28, 2022, police went to 151 6th Ave. and found Zaccai James suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Troy police said their preliminary investigation found that James, or potentially the group he was standing with when the shooting occurred, was specifically targeted by the suspect or suspects.
